Fra Keliber sin hjemmeside 11. desember 2015- Keliber Oy has developed a customized production process for application to the lithium deposits of Central Ostrobothnia which represents the most advanced and effective among the Best Available Techniques. - The energy required for the process can be produced from domestic bioenergy sources. Step | Production phase | Description | -1- | Crushing | Pre-crushing at the mine. | -2- | Magnetic separation | Magnetic separation in order to remove gangue. | -3- | Grinding | Two-phase grinding in a rod and ball mill. | -4- | Flotation/Alteration of the crystal structure | The spodumene is separated out by flotation. The crystal structure is altered from that of alpha-spodumene to that of beta-spodumene. | -5- | Leaching and crystallization | The beta-spodumene is dissolved to obtain lithium bicarbonate (Li2CO3), which is carbonized and purified by ion exchange. | -6- | Final product | More than 90 % of the original material will leave the plant in the form of commercial products. The quality target for the lithium carbonate itself is high purity, 99.99 %. The principal by-products are columbite and quartz-feldspar. |
