Fra pv-magazine.com 4. desember 2015- Large renewable energy investors are showing increased interest in financing offgrid PV and renewable projects. Projects to supply mining operations in remote locations in particular are attracting investor attention with high quality offtaker companies assisting with project bankability. - DeGrussa Copper-Gold Mine in Western Australia will be equipped with a 10.6 MW PV power plant to supply the mine’s daily operations. - ARENA is providing AU$20.9 million (US$15.25 million) in funding for the AU$40 million (US$29.2 million) project and the agency hopes it will provide the mining industry with an example to be rolled out elsewhere. - The DeGrussa project will also employ battery storage, in the form of a 6MWh lithium-ion battery system. - We know that there is at least 700 – 800 MW of demand in diesel power generation alone [in Western Australia], so there is at least that much and that is just for the miners.”

Fra pv-magazine.com 3. desember 2015 " COP21: African Renewable Energy Initiative launched, 300 GW 2030 target"- Africa has pledged its support for renewables in Paris this week by announcing the launch of the African Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI). The goal is to achieve universal access to energy on the continent. 10 GW of new and additional renewable energy capacity is planned by 2020, while the potential to generate 300 GW is expected by 2030. - Underlining its commitment to electrify the continent, Africa’s leaders have launched AREI at this year’s COP currently underway in Paris, in response to the fact 640 million have no access to electricity, while 7 million have no access to clean alternatives. Dvs. 2 GW pr. Man trenger 6 tonn poly-Si pr. MW installert PV og 2,5 tonn LCE pr. MWh batterikapasitet.

Bl.a. gir African Development Bank støtte til off-grid solcelleanlegg i Tanzania.
